Google steps it up on a social and virtual spectrum with Google’s Project Glass

Google Project Glass

A friend just showed me an article delineating prospects of a new invention of Google

The long time rumored project is in full fledged fruition. Now, this is something I didn’t quite know that was in existant, and it’s no wonder they haven’t really been pushing Google + (in the media) lately. They have an even bigger market to tackle (the mobile and social market). This is a great niche for Google if they really delve into it like they should. Now, for the details..why does this matter for you?

Well, there are tremendous possibilities. For example, if you are the on the go kind of person, this IS PERFECT! Let’s say you are trying to find the location of your next meeting, but have no idea. Well, with this Google Project you’ll be able to have your own built-in navigation system which details where you are going right on your walk. This is pretty cool, it’s almost like your own built-in navigation system. Let me not get into the possibility of long trips. If you are a family trip or something and have down time, this would be the perfect way to stay in touch with your clients, you’ll be able to do voice chat amongst other things to keep in direct contact which is great!

From a blogging/social media standpoint, this would be the next level thing to have to make it a lot easier. You’ll be able to do voice commands while you vocally write down posts, and you’ll be able to share with a number of different social bookmarking or social networks. This makes it a breeze to keep your stuff updated. From a marketing standpoint, you’ll put a new meaning to virtual marketing, that’s for sure. Just imagine holding seminars where you do shows through your Project Glass! WOW! Incredible, right? Well, see what the project has to offer so far down here. Enjoy! And check out my last few posts on Google Plus

Pinterest is the new wave for free picture marketing

Pinterest image

All right. I actually wanted to make this kind of post a few weeks ago, but I haven’t really had the time. So, I figure tonight is definitely the time to do it!

So about 2 months ago, my friends and I made a wicked Jungle Juice concoction. For those that don’t know what Jungle Juice is, it’s a very strong alcoholic punch with very strong alcohol and a lot of fruit juice to try to mask the taste of alcohol. One of my friends on Twitter liked my recipe and immediately posted it on her Pinterest, when I say immediate traffic, I mean…IMMEDIATE TRAFFIC! It got 10 repins within a matter of hours! Do you know how much potential targeted traffic that is? Crazy, right?

I go to my stats on my blog and see a few hundred new visitors just like that! I was rather AMAZED! I knew that this had INCREDIBLE viral power, and for free. Just the simple fact that people can share not only the pictures on your blog, but the videos makes this a great source. It basically gives the source (your site) and the picture. Now, just imagine if the SEO increases on this site. Like posts actually get well ranked for key markets or niches on different search engines. Man, this could be even more powerful than Tumblr (which is also very pictured based). I think one of the best ways to go about this is to not PRIMARILY promote your own content, but have some really unique pictures that you know people will genuinely like. I mean, everyone will be curious to add and check your profile anyway. If you do decide to put some of your content there, then do it sporadically. The only thing about Pinterest is that it’s still in the invite stage (you request an invite or one of your friends already on there invites you).

It’s really hard to keep up with every social network, latest social media trend, but I have a gut feeling this will be here to stay just because of the accessibility, the fun, and the unique vibe you get! Check a video below to see how Lisa Irby has used it to her advantage. Enjoy!

Whiteboard Friday – Increasing chances of content going viral via SEO Moz

Somaya Reece

^She’s pretty hot, right? Smoking, tall, latina with curves. Not only did I post that to catch your attention, but this woman actually has a very powerful viral marketing movement behind her. A powerful movement that’s led to a role on a hit TV series, music in movies, and an upcoming tequila line! If you want to learn more about her, go to her website at Somaya Reece.

The funny thing is I’ve been actually speaking on the subject of content going viral lately to some of my friends, and even on Twitter. This whole concept of letting the good content speak for itself and spread organically is just what I’ve been trying to do for a while and catches on. A lot of people might get lucky their first few times around, but having consistent content that generally speaks to the population is how stuff gets spread out in the right ways. However, even I learned a few things about how you could increase your content going viral.

As of late 2010-early 2011, I made sure I posted more pictures with my content for the sole purpose of grabbing attention and making someone stay on my site a bit longer. When you have something to draw them in and stay on your site, chances are you’ll get a better convert for products or even clicks on ads. However, I didn’t really understand the power of how images can help spread messages virally. He makes a good point with Facebook being REALLY image oriented. In fact, the image shows as a thumbnail right near the title of the text. So a powerful image can cause a lot of people to view the content just on the strength of the image. And Google sometimes will place your image from your site as an SEO component. I’ve got a lot of views based on just a certain image being on my site! It spread virally all throughout different Google and Yahoo images.

The last lesson I’m going to touch is relationships. This is especially the case for Twitter based things. One way is to find people related to your niche. Through tweeting, retweeting, direct message, you have a really good basis to start a relationship with your followers. If the content is valuable, guess what? They will share it to other people that feel it’s valuable. That’s how it all starts!!! People want really nice, keen concrete information. If you have an attention grabbing tweet, chances are you can spread it. And with the use of hash tags (keywords for Twitter), you’ll have more potential for viewers! Excellent, right?

Well, I don’t want to bombard you all with an extremely long post, but check out the WhiteBoard Friday from SEOMOZ for more info!
