Is January always a bad month for Adsense revenues?

I’ve been doing some analysis between January 2012 and January 2013 trying to measure differences between Adsense revenues, click rates, and just certain days where I get a click. I’ve found some interesting things and theories that may help answer your question.

This isn’t really going to be a long drawn out post because I’m pretty much getting straight to the point. However, I will touch a couple things that will give you some idea on to why this type of phenomenon is a common occurrence.

Before the first month of the year

Now, this is actually interesting. Why? Well, we have Memorial Day, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Obviously, this is a time of major expenditure. It’s a time for buying seasons. Obviously, if you have a hot button niche, people are going to want to bid really high on certain ad placement. 9 times out of 10, the search engines will be like one big rat race with people searching for recipes, to high ticket items, to even guides on certain issues. This especially the case right after Halloween onto the Christmas season. In fact, October to December is pretty much the highest buying season of the year. That’s why a lot of ads perform very well and you’ll see your clickthrough rate go through the roof and your Adsense Revenues spike. A lot of people spend money that they don’t have and become quite desperate. This brings me to the next point: after the holiday season.

Holiday blues (I’M BROKE!!!)

This is the tricky part. If you have niches that cater to a certain season or a target group of people that do not CONSTANTLY search this, then you might be in slight trouble (temporarily) with your Adsense Revenues. For the first few weeks of the New Year, people are not willing to buy things. Why? Well, the constant online shopping, whether it’s Amazon, Ebay or somewhere can have people really digging inside their pockets for sales and getting the best Christmas gift for family members. Of course, you can also use these same tactics after the holiday season to still get some residual income besides using Google Adsense Revenues to supplement yourself.

This brings me to this last point. Always, always have other ways of drawing income, whether it’s getting new affiliate products, creating your own stuff, or even using Adsense alternatives. Adsense Revenue should not be your only means to creating your income. Here is a video of a few Adsense alternatives below:
